Children's Program

For the first time the Gallery Walk will have a children’s program from 3-5pm. Participating galleries will have special arts activities for the whole family.  No transportation is necessary. Bring the kids and the whole family. The BID would like to thank Mom.com for its sponsorship of this event.

Aunt Jean’s
Come and explore the world of pumpkins at Aunt Jean’s Toys & Treats. Check out of pumpkin art gallery or join us in carving, or painting one of your own. We will have special treats to share with you. Special Note: Aunt Jean will start at 4pm and carve until 7pm.

 

73 See Gallery
The Gallery staff will a do a talk and demonstration based in the current exhibit “The History of Comics"  It will include working with copies of the book: "Understanding Comics" by Scott McCloud.

Brassworks
Inspired by the theme of the current exhibit at BrassWorks, Beneath the Layers, the gallery will provide children and adults of all ages the opportunity to make collages. Come visit between 3 and 5 and you will be able to cut and paste to your heart’s content and take home your art creation.  The gallery will provide paper, scissors and glue, and you can let your imagination run wild.

The Color of Things"
Learn about color, collaboration and the creation of art.  Help create a community masterpiece to be displayed in the shop. OPEN to kids of ALL ages!

Essex Fine Arts Gallery
Gaze in wonder at the miniature paintings wall at Essex Fine Arts Gallery. As you enter the gallery and look to the right, you see before you a whole wall full of beautiful small paintings. Listen, as gallery director Diane E. Israel explains how these miniature marvels are made. Ms. Israel will be demonstrating the art of watercolor miniatures during the afternoon Children's program. Learn about the art of the miniature from Ms. Israel who has been painting small works since the age of seven!

Gallery 51
Raisa Nosova (exhibiting artists) will be conducting painting and digital illustration demonstrations throughout the day.  Raisa is not only a gifted artist but a gifted teacher.  Raisa will be conducting children’s workshops and classes at Gallery 51 throughout the holiday season and into the spring…

Kling Gallery
Ms. Kling will be doing a workshop about printmaking. Everyone in the workshop will have their print framed-wow!

Montclair Art Museum
Drop in for a special family art activity at the Montclair Art Museum. Families will focus on a particular artwork related to one of MAM's special exhibitions. Participants will engage in active looking, lively discussion, and interactive activities.

Nest and Company
Children will have the opportunity to make their own “Artist Trading Cards.” Nest & Company will have a table filled with craft supplies for children to make their own unique cards that they can keep, trade or give to loved ones.

StudioKids Art
Artist Rachel Marcotte will be leading the fun as kids make cool puppets based on the art of Jennifer levine's paintings.  Using colored paper, pastels, and other found objects kids can have fun in this free workshop learning how to make simple hand puppets.
They can use their puppets for an impromptu short puppet show at the end of the workshop!
