MAM Pre–Gallery Walk Private Tour of New Exhibition

To help kick off the Montclair Gallery Walk—A Little Night Art IX—the Montclair Art Museum (MAM) will offer a private guided tour of New Media: New Forms, a group exhibition of new media art by New Jersey–based artists. The 13 artists selected for this juried exhibition produce work that innovatively engages with digital media, incorporating such “new media” as video, sound, Internet technologies, digital photography, and digital printmaking, along with installation, sculpture, and drawing. The exhibition is this year’s New Jersey Arts Annual: Fine Arts.

MAM curator of contemporary art Alexandra Schwartz, who co-organized the exhibition, will lead the tour. Additionally, one of the artists in the show, Liselot van der Heijden, associate professor of art and art history at The College of New Jersey, will be on hand to discuss her work, a three-channel video about the Occupy Wall Street protests.

The tour will be offered from 5:30 to 6 p.m., with the galleries remaining open until 6:45 p.m. Visitors can join the Montclair Gallery Walk, which runs 6–9 p.m.

You must reserve your spot by calling The Store at MAM: 973-259-5137 or completing the form below.

The tour is also part of Art Museum Day, which is being celebrated nationally and internationally on May 18. On this day, besides the tour, MAM will offer free admission to the galleries, as well as a discount in The Store at MAM.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity. Be sure to register early! For more information about the exhibition, please visit www.montclairartmuseum.org/njfaa
